The wheat yield verification and acceptance at the demonstration base of the Shandong Province Major Science and Technology Innovation Project, led by Nongda Fertilizer Co., Ltd., yielded encouraging results!

On June 14, Nongda Fertilizer Industry convened relevant experts to conduct an on-site yield assessment and acceptance of wheat grown at the demonstration base for Shandong Province’s major science and technology innovation project, “Research and Demonstration of New Green Agricultural Inputs,” located in Liutuan Town, Changyi City, Weifang.
This project addresses a range of issues prevalent in our province’s typical cropping systems, including the improper use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, the difficulty of conventional plastic mulch to degrade—resulting in soil secondary salinization and acidification, environmental pollution, low yields and poor quality of agricultural products, and potential food safety risks. To tackle these challenges, the project has pioneered the research and development of integrated “fertilizer–pesticide–mulch” input technologies, along with their demonstration and application. The demonstration techniques employed at this pilot site primarily include integrated applications of green fertilizers and green bio‑pesticides.
At the yield‑assessment site, the expert panel randomly selected one plot from the demonstration field and one from the control field for on‑site mechanical harvesting and weighing. The actual measurements showed that the average wheat yield in the demonstration field reached 572.3 kg per mu, while the control field yielded 445.4 kg per mu. Thus, the demonstration area outperformed the non‑demonstration area by 126.9 kg per mu, representing a 28.5% increase.
The results of this acceptance review indicate that the integrated application technology for green agricultural inputs, demonstrated and promoted in Liutuan Town, Changyi City, has achieved favorable production outcomes and significant potential for wider dissemination. This evaluation not only provides a scientifically sound basis for the wheat demonstration base in Liutuan Town but also offers crucial technical support for the development of the province’s grain industry.
