On June 21, the mid-term evaluation meeting of the Shandong Province Vegetable Industry Technology System was grandly held in Feicheng, Shandong. Hosted by the Shandong Province Vegetable Industry Technology System and the People’s Government of Feicheng City, and organized by the Tai’an Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Shandong Nongda Fertilizer Technology Co., Ltd., the event aimed to comprehensively review the system’s work and foster synergistic development between the system and local industries. The meeting brought together approximately 60 participants, including leaders and experts from the provincial system management office and the organizing institutions, as well as post‑holders within the provincial vegetable system, heads of experimental stations, and key members of the research teams.
At the meeting, Ding Fangjun, Deputy General Manager of Shandong Agricultural University Fertilizer Technology Co., Ltd. and Director of the Feicheng Comprehensive Experimental Station, together with his team members—including Guo Xinsong, President of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences—presented a report on the mid-term progress of the Feicheng Comprehensive Experimental Station.
The Feicheng Comprehensive Experimental Station set five assessment indicators, all of which the company has fully met in accordance with the task requirements, with particularly outstanding performance in product development and patent acquisition. Professor Ding Fangjun has led the company’s team in conducting ongoing research on theoretical foundations, technological innovation, and the development of new products, yielding significant results. The team’s achievements have also been recognized at the provincial level, earning one Shandong Qilu Agricultural Science Award and two Shandong Provincial Enterprise Innovation Achievement Awards. In addition, the team filed eight patent applications, of which five were granted, and published one academic paper. Notably, addressing challenges such as low temperatures in greenhouses and spring “returning‑cold” events that hinder crop growth and reduce yields, the team developed a low‑temperature‑resistant foliar fertilizer—named “Baojia Weiguo.” Spraying this fertilizer two to three times markedly enhances crops’ resilience to cold stress, especially sudden temperature drops, and the formulation has been awarded an invention patent.
In addition, the team has collaborated with agricultural extension agencies to establish technology training workshops and dispatch technical experts to rural areas to provide on-site guidance to farmers. They have continuously conducted demonstration trials and disseminated information through new media platforms such as WeChat Video Accounts and Douyin, producing a total of 13 videos with each garnering over 5,000 views, thereby highlighting the practical value of new technologies and products and promoting their wider adoption in agricultural production.
The attending delegates expressed their appreciation and recognition of the Agricultural University Fertilizer Industry team’s professional achievements and extensive experience in the agricultural sector, while also offering numerous constructive comments and recommendations that will positively contribute to the team’s innovation and upgrading efforts.
