Keep the Chinese people’s “rice bowls” firmly in our own hands.

On the morning of January 8, the unveiling ceremony for the Peanut Research Institute’s Yanjin Station of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs’ Key Laboratory for Humic Acid Fertilizers was held in Yanjin County, Henan Province. Attending the ceremony were Professor Ding Fangjun, Executive Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory and Deputy General Manager of Nongda Group; Mr. Xia Haimeng, Director of Nongda Group’s Central China Region; Mr. Tian Wenjie, General Manager of Biyuan Agricultural Inputs in Yanjin County, along with other leaders.
At the ceremony, Professor Ding Fangjun, Executive Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory for Humic Acid Fertilizers under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Deputy General Manager of Nongda Group, noted in his address that since 2018, when Nongda Group received approval from the Ministry to establish the “Key Laboratory for Humic Acid Fertilizers,” the company has been committed to promoting high-quality agricultural development. To this end, it has investigated the mechanisms and efficacy of humic acid products across diverse regions, crops, and growth stages; explored multiple methods for activating humic acids and their application technologies; and developed a series of new, green, and highly efficient fertilizer formulations. Field trials on peanut plots have demonstrated remarkable results—enhancing both yield and quality while improving soil health—earning the recognition and support of peanut farmers in Yanzhen County.
The experimental plot at the Peanut Research Institute shoulders a critical responsibility for China’s agricultural development and will further facilitate qualitative breakthroughs in peanut cultivation techniques, thereby better guiding the company’s transformation into a service‑oriented enterprise. Looking ahead, Nongda Group will, as always, ensure that humic acid fertilizers deliver even greater benefits in peanut fields, bringing farmers richer yields and enhanced support.
Tian Wenjie, General Manager of Biyuan Agricultural Inputs in Yanzin County, delivered a speech, noting that Yanzin County is a premier peanut-producing region in Henan Province, with approximately 500,000 mu of arable land, of which about 400,000 mu are dedicated to peanut cultivation. Situated along the ancient course of the Yellow River, the county features extensive sandy soils, and the loss of nutrients and moisture has long constrained yield improvements. The water‑retention and nutrient‑preservation properties of Nongda Group’s humic‑acid fertilizers have proven highly effective in enhancing drought resistance for peanuts. Since Nongda fertilizers were introduced to Yanzin in 2012, they have yielded tangible benefits, including soil improvement, enhanced disease resistance in peanut crops, and increased yields and incomes. He expressed confidence that the establishment of the Peanut Research Institute will, in the years ahead, deliver even greater value to large-scale farmers.
Following the unveiling ceremony, Professor Ding Fangjun invited Professor Ye Youliang, a professor at the College of Resources and Environment of Henan Agricultural University and the founder of the Henan Science and Technology Courtyard, to deliver a lecture and field Q&A session for more than 40 leading farmers from Yanzin County, Henan.
Large-scale farmers are the new hope of Chinese agriculture. After years of rigorous selection and perseverance, they have emerged as industry leaders—pioneers in the bold implementation of the strategies to ensure food security through land and technology.
At the conference, two expert professors engaged in warm, interactive discussions with leading farmers, addressing their key concerns about cultivation practices, fertilization, and the management of diseases, pests, and weeds. The farmers eagerly voiced their questions and expressed high praise for the soil‑improving and soil‑activating effects of Nongda’s humic acid products, noting a marked increase in yield per mu and steadily doubling returns year after year. With the meticulous guidance of the two experts, this initiative is helping to drive high‑quality agricultural development in Yanzhen, enabling this emerging group of large-scale farmers to thrive, bolstering their incomes, and ensuring that China’s food security remains firmly in our own hands.
