Using microbial fertilizers in corn cultivation yields excellent results; they can be applied as both base fertilizer and topdressing.

Because microbial fertilizers contain a large number of beneficial microorganisms, once applied to the soil, these beneficial microbes rapidly multiply and spread in a geometric progression. Moreover, the metabolic products of these functional microorganisms—such as nitrogen fixation, phosphate solubilization, and potassium mobilization—can improve the soil’s physical and chemical properties, alleviate soil compaction, maintain nutrient balance, and reduce nutrient losses.

Microbial fertilizers deliver excellent results when applied to corn, as they can be used both as a base fertilizer and as a topdressing. The specific application method is:

  1. Base fertilizer: Apply 3,000 kg of organic fertilizer per mu. Application methods may include furrow application or hole application, and, depending on soil conditions, supplement with appropriate amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers.

  2. Topdressing: When the fertilizer application per mu is less than 20 kg of standard nitrogen, it is advisable to apply a single topdressing at the mid‑jointing stage to promote both stem and ear development. For early‑maturing varieties, topdressing is best around 30 days after sowing, during the “bell‑mouth” stage; for medium‑maturing varieties, about 25 days after sowing; and for late‑maturing varieties, approximately 35–40 days after sowing. If the fertilizer application exceeds 20 kg of standard nitrogen per mu, split‑application topdressing is recommended, with particular emphasis on fertilizers for stem and ear development. In most regions, a two‑stage topdressing approach is adopted, typically applying a heavier dose earlier and a lighter dose later—about 60%–70% for stem‑promoting fertilizer and 30%–40% for ear‑promoting fertilizer—and foliar spraying with micronutrients such as zinc and boron during the jointing and booting stages.

Because microbial fertilizers contain a large number of beneficial microorganisms, once applied to the soil, these beneficial microbes rapidly multiply and spread in a geometric progression. Their metabolic byproducts—such as nitrogen-fixing, phosphate-solubilizing, and potassium‑solubilizing activities—improve the soil’s physical and chemical properties, alleviate compaction, maintain nutrient balance, and reduce nutrient losses. Jinbaobei microbial fertilizer also contains humic acid, organic matter, and a variety of trace elements, which stimulate the growth and development of corn, enhance its resistance to diseases, drought, and cold, and improve its stress tolerance and lodging resistance. Additionally, it helps degrade pesticide residues and increases the efficiency of chemical fertilizer use, significantly reducing costs. Microbial fertilizer can replace approximately 30% of chemical fertilizer, saving farmers 500–800 yuan per mu and boosting yields by more than 200 jin per mu.
