  At present, China’s soils are under mounting ecological pressure, and soil pollution and declining arable land quality have become critical bottlenecks hindering agricultural development and environmental protection. Restoring degraded soils and safeguarding soil health have thus emerged as key priorities for the future of agricultural production.

  With the advancement of agriculture, microbial fertilizers are receiving increasing attention. So, what are the benefits of compound microbial inoculants, and which crops are they suitable for? Let’s find out together!

  I. Compound microbial agents can alleviate the following issues:

  1. Secondary salinization caused by salt accumulation in the soil surface layer due to excessive or improper fertilization;

  2. Applying single‑nutrient fertilizers, particularly acidic ones over the long term, leads to soil acidification.

  3. Soil compaction and aging;

  4. Environmental pollution and soils with continuous cropping obstacles—particularly those caused by high-valence cations—both help mitigate the associated damage.

  II. Crops Suitable for Compound Microbial Inoculants:

  It is suitable for a wide range of crops, including vegetables, melons and fruits, fruit trees, flowers, turfgrass, tea, medicinal herbs, grains, cotton, and more.

  III. Functions and Effects of Compound Microbial Inoculants:

  1. Improve soil quality, restoring vitality to soils that have become acidic, saline, compacted, or over-fertilized.

  2. Alleviates soil fatigue associated with continuous cropping, creates a favorable soil environment for plant growth, and promotes a healthy soil ecosystem.

  3. Increases crop yield, enhances fruit quality, reduces flower and fruit drop, boosts fruit set rate, enables earlier harvesting and extends the harvest period, elevates the nutritional content of fruits, and improves marketability.

  4. Prevent damage caused by pests, diseases, and pathogens, and enhance plant resistance to diseases and adverse environmental conditions.

  5. Decomposes fertilizers and pesticide residues in soil and plants, and chelates heavy metals to mitigate environmental pollution.
