Peanut Seedling Stage Showdown: Nongda Fertilizer—The Unbeatable Choice

Release Date:

2021-05-28

At present, spring peanuts are in the seedling stage. During the early growth phase, vegetative development predominates, yet reproductive organ differentiation has already begun, making this a critical period for root growth, lateral branch initiation, and flower bud differentiation. In the early stages, peanut roots grow rapidly, while aboveground growth remains relatively slow; the nutrients produced by the plant are primarily allocated to root development and flower bud formation.
Today, we visited Xiaoguanzhuang Village in Juxian County, Rizhao City, Shandong Province, to assess the seedling-stage performance of a peanut demonstration plot aimed at quality improvement. Through discussions with the landowner, we learned that this peanut field was tilled and planted around May Day, using mechanical mulching for sowing, with the Haiflora No. 1 variety. More than 20 days have passed since planting, and the peanuts have emerged uniformly. Comparing the seedling vigor between the demonstration plot and the control plot, it is clear that the demonstration field exhibits uniform emergence, consistent seedling growth, and rich, dark-green foliage.
Using a handheld growth monitor, we assessed the peanut growth parameters in two plots. Comparative analysis reveals that the quality‑improvement demonstration plot exhibits higher leaf area index, leaf nitrogen content, and leaf water content than the control plot, with robust plant vigor.
A close examination of the peanut seedlings on the two plots reveals that those treated with the quality‑enhancement package are robust, with abundant branches and densely spaced nodes, while also exhibiting prolific flower bud differentiation—laying a solid foundation for profuse and uniform flowering.
Chlorophyll meters were used to assess leaf development in peanuts from two fields, with random samples collected in the field. Comparison of average values revealed that the peanuts in the quality‑improvement demonstration plot exhibited higher chlorophyll content. Leaf thickness was measured using a vernier caliper, with five leaves randomly selected for each sample; the leaves from the demonstration plot were more robust, intensely green, and thicker.
Several peanut plants were randomly pulled from the field for comparison, revealing that, following application of the peanut quality‑enhancement package, the plants exhibited robust stems, abundant branching, a more extensive root system, a longer taproot, and a greater number of lateral roots.
During the seedling stage of spring peanuts, management focuses on cultivating robust seedlings, with the primary goal of achieving uniform and complete emergence. This ensures that the young plants are vigorous, with short, sturdy stems, numerous densely spaced branches, dark green foliage, well‑developed root systems, and abundant flower bud differentiation—laying a solid foundation for abundant, evenly timed flowering.
Nongda Fertilizer Industry has helped farmers achieve greater yields by developing scientifically sound and highly efficient fertilization plans, contributing to the cultivation of exceptional peanuts. The plot owner is very satisfied with this year’s crop vigor; in the later stages, the strategic application of foliar fertilizers ensures a steady supply of nutrients throughout the peanut’s entire growth cycle, boosting both the full‑pod rate and the double‑kernel rate, and delivering a bountiful harvest in both yield and quality.
