Microbial inoculants have quietly become a part of our daily lives. What exactly are they, and what benefits do they offer? Curious to find out? In fact, we all know that the main reason crops fail to thrive is poor root development, and the root system suffers because the soil itself is inadequate.
Microbial inoculants have quietly become a part of our daily lives. What exactly are microbial inoculants, and what benefits do they offer? Curious to find out?
In fact, we all know that the primary reason crops fail to thrive is poor root development, and poor root health stems from degraded soil. In recent years, the over-reliance on chemical fertilizers in agricultural production has severely disrupted the soil’s beneficial microbial communities. When we were children, earthworms abounded in the soil; today, their decline vividly reflects the dramatic loss of soil biodiversity. Therefore, to improve soil ecological quality and boost crop yields, the immediate priority is to apply high‑quality microbial inoculants to the soil.
However, applying microbial inoculants is not as straightforward as it may seem.
First, microbial fertilizers differ from conventional chemical fertilizers in that they have a relatively higher regulatory threshold. National regulations require microbial fertilizers to undergo testing by designated institutions under the Ministry of Agriculture and to undergo rigorous field trials, ensuring their safety, efficacy, and environmental compatibility. Only after such verification are they registered and filed with the Ministry, and a registration certificate is issued to the manufacturer upon confirmation of their safety and reliability.
Secondly, national regulations stipulate that the viable bacterial count in microbial fertilizer formulations must be no less than 200 million CFU/g, with an additional 40% margin of safety. If a microbial product fails to meet this standard, it indicates that its quality does not comply with the required specifications.
Finally, microbial agents are only effective when the microorganisms remain alive; however, many of the viable strains in these products cannot withstand high temperatures, intense sunlight, or extreme pH levels. In contrast, this type of biofertilizer offers superior resistance to heat, severe cold, and harsh acidity or alkalinity, making it a worthwhile option to try. Furthermore, when selecting a product, be sure to apply it based on the specific conditions of your soil.
Moreover, microbial inoculants primarily establish beneficial microbial communities and suppress the growth of pathogenic microorganisms, rather than serving as a primary source of mineral nutrients. Consequently, they cannot fully replace conventional fertilizers; instead, they should be applied to the soil in conjunction with chemical and organic fertilizers to maximize their effectiveness.
When purchasing microbial inoculants, it’s best to choose reputable manufacturers that offer products with excellent value and proven effectiveness. For example, the microbial inoculants from Nongda Feiyе are a great option!
