On October 24, led by Hu Xuejian, Secretary of the Party Branch and Deputy Director of the Graduate Affairs Office at Shandong Agricultural University, along with Professor Zhou Ge, graduate students from the “Revitalization Elite Program” — specifically the Shandong Agricultural University Fertilizer Class of 2020 — paid a field visit to Shandong Agricultural University Fertilizer Co., Ltd. and attended a faculty–student symposium organized by the company. Chen Shigeng, Director of the Research Institute at Shandong Agricultural University Fertilizer Co., Ltd. and Secretary-General of the Revitalization Elite Program, together with Deputy Secretary-General Xin Guang, warmly welcomed the visiting leaders and graduate students.

At the faculty–student symposium, Chen Shiming provided students with a detailed overview of the management model of the Revitalization Elite Class and outlined the expectations placed on them. Drawing on his dual identity as both a “veteran” employee who has worked at the company for over a decade and a “senior” alumnus who graduated from Shandong Agricultural University more than ten years ago, he offered practical advice on both academic pursuits and professional development. Meanwhile, Fan Zhongqing and Liu Xiaochen—both Shandong Agricultural University alumni and outstanding R&D professionals at the company—shared their personal journeys as they transitioned from students to working adults and entered the workforce.

Finally, Hu Xuejian set forth expectations for students’ learning and research from the perspectives of pride, confidence, rationality, curiosity, resilience, and inclusiveness. He emphasized that students should take pride in being part of the Revitalization Elite Program and have the confidence to achieve even better results through two years of study. In their future work and daily lives, they should make choices with rationality while maintaining a spirit of curiosity and ambition; they must persevere in seeing their decisions through to completion. And when faced with dissatisfaction in work or life, they should cultivate a tolerant mindset and address any issues promptly through open communication.

It is understood that the “Revitalization Elite Program” has been approved by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education as a demonstration base for industry–education‑integrated joint graduate training in Shandong Province. The Agricultural University Fertilizer Class represents an innovative reform initiative jointly launched by Shandong Agricultural University and Nongda Feiyе to foster industry–education‑integrated graduate education. In 2019 and 2020, the program admitted 30 students each year, and the joint training plans for 2021 and 2022 have already been finalized. Moving forward, the two institutions will continue to cultivate a growing pool of practice‑oriented, innovation‑driven talents who possess high scientific and technological expertise, strong practical skills, and well‑rounded competencies—individuals who are deeply knowledgeable about agriculture, passionate about rural development, and committed to strengthening and revitalizing the agricultural sector.
