Humic Acid Manufacturer: Five Key Benefits of Humic Acid Fertilizer for Grapes

Everyone knows humic acid—it plays a pivotal role. So, what kind of effects does it produce when applied to grapevines? Today… Humic acid manufacturer Nongda Fertilizer Industry is here to introduce itself.

1. Stimulates physiological metabolism. Humic acid contains a variety of bioactive functional groups that enhance the activities of catalase and polyphenol oxidase within grapevines, thereby stimulating metabolic processes and promoting growth and development. For example, humic acid can advance the emergence of spring buds and increase bud‑break rates, with particularly pronounced effects under low‑temperature conditions; it also stimulates cell division and expansion in the apical meristematic tissues of roots, leading to an increase in white roots and root elongation, which in turn enhances the grapevine’s capacity to absorb water and nutrients. Consequently, nutrient supply is improved, resulting in robust stem growth, lush foliage, enhanced photosynthesis, and accelerated translocation of assimilates to the fruit, thus promoting earlier coloration and ripening of grape berries.

2. It modifies fertilizer properties and enhances grapevine uptake of nutrients. Humic acid possesses strong ion-exchange and adsorption capacities, which help reduce losses of ammonium‑nitrogen from ammonium bicarbonate and improve the utilization efficiency of nitrogen fertilizers. Oxidatively degraded nitro‑humic acid can inhibit urease activity, thereby reducing urea volatilization. Degraded nitro‑humic acid increases the mobility of phosphorus in the soil, suppresses its fixation by the soil, converts readily available phosphorus into slowly available forms, and promotes root absorption of phosphorus. Furthermore, humic acid can form chelates with poorly soluble micronutrients, producing highly soluble humic‑micronutrient complexes that are readily absorbed by crops, thus facilitating both root and foliar uptake of these micronutrients.

3. Improves soil structure, regulates soil acidity, and enhances soil fertility. Humic acid promotes the formation of soil aggregate structures, adjusts soil pH, optimizes the balance of soil water, nutrients, air, and temperature, increases cation exchange capacity, achieves acid–base equilibrium, boosts the soil’s ability to retain water and nutrients, stimulates microbial activity, accelerates the decomposition and transformation of organic matter, and facilitates the release of essential nutrients, thereby improving nutrient uptake by crops.

4. Enhances stress resistance and boosts grape yields. Humic acid reduces the degree of stomatal opening in plant leaves, thereby decreasing transpiration and lowering water consumption, which improves the plant’s internal water balance and ensures normal growth and development under drought conditions, thus strengthening drought tolerance. As a zwitterionic colloid with high surface activity, humic acid inhibits fungal growth, enhances cold tolerance, is readily adsorbed by cell membranes, alters membrane permeability, and promotes the uptake of inorganic nutrients, helping to prevent rot and root rot diseases and reducing pest and disease incidence.

5. Enhance grape quality. Humic acid can form complexes or chelates with micronutrients, increasing the translocation of these nutrients from the roots to the leaves and other plant parts, thereby regulating the ratio and balance between macronutrients and micronutrients. It also boosts enzymatic activity, facilitating the synthesis and transport of sugars, starches, proteins, fats, and various vitamins. With enhanced synthesis and accumulation, the primary metabolic products are more rapidly transported from the stems and leaves or the root system to the grapes, resulting in plump, robust fruit.
