Biofertilizers, also known as microbial fertilizers, currently often command prices that are higher than those of organic fertilizers—and in some cases even exceed the cost of chemical fertilizers. As a result, many farmers wonder: are biofertilizers really worth using? The significance of biofertilizers in agriculture: 1. Promoting rapid growth: Beneficial microorganisms such as Bacillus megaterium and Bacillus mucilaginosus produce large quantities of plant‑derived enzymes during their metabolic processes, significantly enhancing crops’ uptake of essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. 2. Regulating physiological processes and boosting yields and incomes: Beneficial strains within the microbial community—including Bacillus mucilaginosus, Bacillus laterosporus, and Bacillus licheniformis—can promote…

The Significance of Biofertilizers in Agriculture

  1. Promotes rapid growth: Beneficial microorganisms such as Bacillus megaterium and Bacillus mucilaginosus produce abundant plant‑derived enzymes during their metabolic processes, significantly enhancing the uptake of essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium by crops.

  2. Regulating physiological processes and boosting yields: Beneficial bacteria such as Bacillus mucilaginosus, Bacillus laterosporus, and Bacillus licheniformis in the microbial community promote root growth and increase the number of fine roots. The plant‑endogenous enzymes and plant growth regulators produced by these beneficial microorganisms are taken up by the roots and transported into the plant, thereby enhancing leaf photosynthesis.

  3. Enhancing crop stress tolerance: Beneficial microorganisms such as Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus megaterium, and Bacillus laterosporus in the microbial community can improve soil buffering capacity and strengthen crops’ resistance to drought, cold, and waterlogging. Meanwhile, Bacillus laterosporus can also reinforce the protective cuticle on leaves, ward off pathogen invasion, and enhance the crop’s resistance to diseases and pests.

“At present,” Microbial fertilizer Microbial fertilizers cannot replace chemical fertilizers, nor can chemical fertilizers substitute for microbial fertilizers. However, as microbial technology advances to a certain stage, microbial fertilizers may eventually completely displace chemical fertilizers. In major cash‑crop regions such as Shandong, Henan, Shaanxi, and Gansu—particularly in areas with aging fruit trees—microbial fertilizers have become the preferred choice among distributors and farmers for ensuring crop yield and quality, as well as mitigating economic losses.
