In Sanjibu, Yantai, there’s a “social‑media‑famous” cherry orchard that draws countless growers every day to come and learn. So what exactly makes this cherry orchard so appealing?

It turns out that, at the same age, cherries from this orchard fetch 25 yuan per jin, while those from other orchards sell for only 15 to 16 yuan per jin. Although the price is nearly double, the cherries are in such high demand that supply simply can’t keep up.

According to reports, the owner of this cherry orchard is Li Zhiliang. He has his own systematic management approach to cherry cultivation, and when it comes to pruning, he advocates an inverted‑umbrella shaping method. He believes that only with vigorous branches can the fruit receive ample nutrients, resulting in exceptionally high‑quality cherries.
In terms of fertilization, he advocates using a comprehensive fertilizer package that includes China Agricultural University’s active humic acid fertilizer, bio-organic fertilizer, Hanzhong’s micronutrient‑based water‑soluble fertilizer, foliar fertilizers, and Aiguo‑zhe, thereby providing nutrients to the fruit tree from multiple angles—through its root system, leaves, and trunk. At the same time, he places great emphasis on supplementing microbial fertilizers to condition and improve the soil environment around the cherry tree roots. As a result, the trees not only receive adequate nutrition but also thrive in an exceptionally favorable growing environment, which boosts cherry yields, reduces the incidence of diseases and pests, and enhances fruit quality.

After years of repeated experimentation, Li Zhiliang has amassed extensive practical experience in cherry tree cultivation and management. His methods have earned growing recognition, and many farmers who have adopted his techniques have achieved significant improvements in both cherry yield and quality.
Today, wherever Li Zhiliang goes, large numbers of followers come to seek his guidance and learn from him, and he is more than happy to share and pass on his knowledge and experience.

Li Zhiliang told the author that he hopes, through his modest efforts, to promote advanced cherry cultivation and management techniques as well as high-quality fertilizer packages, so that Yantai’s cherries will continue to improve.
