Recently, the fields of Chen Kexue in Pingchuan Town, Linze County, Zhangye City, have been bustling with activity. It turns out that the Northwest Branch of Nongda Fertilizer is hosting an onion‑cultivation field day. Situated in northwestern Gansu, at the strategic gateway of the Hexi Corridor, Linze County has faced severe soil desertification and salinization in recent years, directly hindering sustainable agricultural development. Chen Kexue told me that in earlier years, the soil was far more fertile than it is today. Over the past few years, however, soil salinization has grown increasingly serious, with soil compaction being the most noticeable issue. Having cultivated onions for many years, this is the first time he has applied fertilizer from Nongda. On April 5, during the seedling stage, he applied Nongda’s humic acid liquid fertilizer and microbial inoculant.
Recently, the fields of Chen Kexue in Pingchuan Town, Linze County, Zhangye City, have been bustling with activity. It turns out that the Northwest Branch of Nongda Fertilizer Co., Ltd. is hosting an onion‑cultivation field day.

Linze County is located in the northwest of Gansu Province, at a strategic gateway along the Hexi Corridor. In recent years, soil desertification and salinization have become severe, directly hindering the sustainable development of agricultural production.
Chen Kexue told the author that in earlier years, the soil was much more fertile than it is today. Over the past few years, however, soil salinization and alkalization have grown increasingly severe, with soil compaction being the most conspicuous issue.

Chen Kexue has been growing onions for many years, but this is the first time he’s applied Nongda fertilizer. On April 5, during the seedling stage, he applied Nongda’s humic acid soluble powder and Jun Chongfeng, using Siping Bajian as a base fertilizer; the results of this topdressing were immediate. After comparing plots, he told me, “In the fields treated with Nongda fertilizer, you can tell right away that the soil is noticeably better than in the others. The seedlings emerge uniformly, and the plants grow exceptionally well and vigorously—clear evidence that we’ve used the fertilizer correctly.”
Chen Kexue also laid out the economics: in previous years, onion yields averaged just over seven tons per mu; based on the current growth trend, he expects yields to reach around eight tons per mu by July—roughly an extra ton per mu. Last year, prices were a little over 900 yuan per ton, but they’ve now climbed to 1,700 yuan per ton, translating into an additional income of roughly 2,000 yuan per mu. With more than a hundred mu under cultivation, his annual增收 amounts to twenty to thirty thousand yuan.

This observation event received an enthusiastic response and high praise from farmers. A farmer from Pingchuan Town said, “Last year, I noticed my neighbor was using Nongda products, and their onions grew much better than mine. Following the guidance of Nongda’s sales manager, I started using Nongda fertilizers as well. Now, my onions are growing just as vigorously. In this kind of soil, that’s something I never would have dared to hope for—Nongda fertilizers really deliver!”
Following the demonstration event, numerous leading local farmers gained a more direct and in-depth understanding of the performance of Nongda’s products, which has significantly bolstered the brand’s influence in the region.
