[Cost-Effectiveness] — Demonstration of Garlic Fertilizer Efficiency

Release Date:

2019-01-18

Yield sampling showed a 25.6% increase compared with conventional fertilization.

The Soil Ecology Research Institute of Nongda Fertilizer conducted site-specific field trials in Yangzhuang Town, Laiwu City, Shandong Province, and Ermiao Township, Lanling County, Shandong Province, to evaluate the performance of Nongda’s nitrogen- and potassium‑controlled fertilizer formulated specifically for garlic. Field surveys and on-site observations were carried out on January 17, May 9, and May 17, respectively.

Yield sampling showed a 25.6% increase compared with conventional fertilization.

Observations indicate that garlic treated with Nongda Feiyе’s nitrogen- and potassium‑controlled fertilizer for garlic exhibits the following characteristics:

1. Having withstood cold air as low as -13°C, not a single seedling died;

2. The root system is well-developed; compared with other fertilizers, the average number of roots increases by 17, and root length grows by 1.9 cm.

3. Rhizomes swell rapidly; compared with other fertilizers, their diameter increases by an average of 0.85 cm.

4. The plants are robust, with large, fleshy leaves and few yellowing leaves.

5. The garlic-specific controlled-release nitrogen–potassium fertilizer exhibits partial release, with no waste observed.

6. Earthworms have appeared in the soil.

Observations indicate that garlic treated with Nongda Feiyе’s nitrogen- and potassium‑controlled fertilizer for garlic exhibits the following characteristics:

1. The average weight of garlic bulbs was 24.5%–35.7% higher compared with those treated with other fertilizers.

2. The biological yield of individual garlic plants increased by 27.0% to 47.6% compared with other fertilizers.

3. Root biomass increased by 18.8%–32.4% compared with other fertilizers.

4. The plants exhibit high greenness retention.

Observations indicate that garlic treated with Nongda Feiyе’s nitrogen- and potassium‑controlled fertilizer for garlic exhibits the following characteristics:

1. The plants exhibited vigorous growth; compared with other fertilizers, average plant height increased by 11.7%, pseudostem height by 9.8%, and pseudostem diameter by 36.4%.

2. Bulb diameter is 13.6% larger than that of other fertilizers;

3. The root system exhibits robust growth, with a 30% increase in root biomass compared to other fertilizers.

4. Yield sampling showed a 25.6% increase compared to other fertilizers.
