On April 3, the 2018 “Nongda Humic Acid Cup” — the first leg of China’s high-quality agricultural products challenge to break the Guinness World Record — kicked off in Wenshang, Jining. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture’s Key Laboratory for Humic Acid Fertilizers and the National Engineering Laboratory for Efficient Utilization of Soil and Fertilizer Resources, with Shandong Radio and Television Station serving as the organizer, and Shandong Radio and Television’s Agricultural Science Channel along with Shandong Nongda Fertilizer Technology Co., Ltd. acting as co-organizers.
At the meeting, Zhu Qingrong, director of the Wenshang County Agricultural Bureau and the Plant Protection Station, shared local experience in corn cultivation. Drawing on current agricultural policies and market conditions, he underscored the importance of scientific fertilization. He noted that the launch of Nongda Fertilizer Industry’s “China’s High-Quality Agricultural Products Challenge the World Guinness” Wenshang Corn Challenge not only bolsters the development of Wenshang’s corn‑growing sector but also plays a vital role in advancing green agriculture and achieving zero growth in chemical fertilizer use.
Zhang Chengyin, Director of the North China Region at Nongda Fertilizer Industry, outlined the competition rules for the 2018 event on-site. In addition to maintaining the established format, the 2018 edition will also assess the growth stages of the submitted crops, conducting a comprehensive evaluation of intrinsic quality across multiple dimensions, including sugar content, fruit firmness, and nutrient levels. At each regional competition venue, generous prizes will be awarded to participants, with the ultimate goal of vying for the annual championship title.
