The Jiangsu–Zhejiang region is renowned for its abundant rice and fish. To promote the widespread adoption of “no‑topdressing” practices in rice cultivation, better support the “two reductions” initiative—reducing fertilizer use and pesticide application—and achieve green, high‑efficiency rice production, on October 10, more than 50 participants, including distributors from Jiangsu and Zhejiang and staff from Nongda Fertilizer Co., Ltd., gathered in Xuyi County to hold a 2016 on‑site demonstration meeting on “no‑topdressing” rice farming and to discuss the progress of its promotion and application. The Jiangsu–Zhejiang region is renowned for its abundant rice and fish. To promote the widespread adoption of “no‑topdressing” practices in rice cultivation, better support the “two reductions” in rice production—reducing fertilizer use and pesticide application—and achieve green, high‑efficiency rice farming, on October 10, more than 50 participants, including distributors from Jiangsu and Zhejiang and staff from Nongda Fertilizer Co., Ltd., gathered in Xuyi County to attend the 2016 on‑site demonstration meeting on “no‑topdressing” rice cultivation and to hold a symposium to discuss the progress of promoting and applying this fertilization technology.
On that day, the observation delegation visited the Nongda rice demonstration field in Xuyi County, where they inspected the performance of Nongda’s no‑re‑fertilization rice technology at two sites—one on the conventional Huai Dao No. 5 variety and the other on a hybrid rice from the Liangyou series. At the site, the trial‑field manager briefed large-scale farmers and distributors on the fertilizer types used, application methods, and application rates for each plot. The encouraging results left all attendees thoroughly inspired. Participants also heard from Senior Agronomist Li Naiquan of Nongda Fertilizer Industry, who presented the fertilizer‑efficacy traits of the no‑re‑fertilization approach in rice cultivation. In Xuyi’s rice‑growing region, Nongda’s no‑re‑fertilization system delivered outstanding yield increases: treated rice exhibited higher grain‑setting rates, greater tillering, and sturdier stems; moreover, during the later growth stages, the plants remained greener with more upright leaves, showing no signs of nutrient deficiency. Compared with conventional fertilization, this method boosted yields by approximately 20%. Mr. Li emphasized that achieving high grain yields requires applying fertilizers in accordance with crop nutrient‑demand patterns, while also implementing an integrated farming management strategy that combines superior varieties, high‑quality fertilizers, and optimal agronomic practices.

At the subsequent seminar, Mr. Zhang, a distinguished distributor from Xuyi County’s Jindan Agricultural Supplies, presented the results of field trials and demonstrations of Nongda’s rice fertilizer that eliminates the need for topdressing in the Xuyi market. The product’s key attributes—labor- and effort-saving, enhanced rice resistance, and high yields—have won widespread approval among farmers. Meanwhile, Mr. Zhou of the Huai’an Supply and Marketing Cooperative shared that, despite a sluggish market environment, sales of Nongda fertilizers in Huai’an have surged from 320 tons last year to over 1,300 tons in 2016. Nongda’s blue‑film controlled‑release fertilizer and active humic acid slow‑release fertilizer help reduce agricultural production costs and lower input expenses.
Finally, Mr. Lu, Deputy General Manager of Nongda Fertilizer Industry, delivered a concluding address. He emphasized that alongside a bountiful grain harvest, we must also achieve a harvest of spirit. Over its 21 years of development, Shandong Nongda Fertilizer Industry, as an enterprise with strong academic roots, has remained committed to its mission of “enabling more farmers to use better fertilizers,” focusing on both increasing farmers’ incomes and advancing product R&D. The promotion and application of innovative fertilizers—such as rice‑specific no‑reapplication fertilizers and humic‑acid‑based products—can effectively enhance fertilizer use efficiency, reduce inappropriate inputs, improve agricultural product quality, and ensure higher yields and incomes. Meanwhile, to further expand the adoption of controlled‑release fertilizers, humic acids, and other cutting‑edge formulations, Nongda Fertilizer Industry has established a strategic partnership with the National Agricultural Technology Extension Center and launched demonstration trials across key crop systems—including rice, sweet potato, and peanut—laying a solid foundation for product dissemination.
On this very day, Nongda Fertilizer Industry celebrated its 21st anniversary. We are confident that, together with our valued customers, by staying true to our original aspirations and expressing gratitude for our shared journey, we will surely achieve even more sustainable and far-reaching growth!
