(This report by Liu Lu) In October 2016, the peanut harvest in Tangshan, Hebei Province, was drawing to a close. Following yield assessments, Luo Chunhui, a large-scale farmer from Paigezhuang Village, Nanfanggezhuang Township, Guye District, Tangshan, defended his title as the region’s “champion of the field” with an impressive yield of 980 jin per mu. Upon hearing such outstanding results, many of the fertilizers and other major farmers who had entered the competition promptly withdrew, conceding defeat, leaving Mr. Luo to take center stage in a one-man show.

(This website reports, by Liu Lu) In October 2016, the peanut harvest in Tangshan, Hebei Province, was drawing to a close. Following yield assessments, Luo Chunhui, a large-scale farmer from Paigezhuang Village, Nanfanggezhuang Township, Guye District, Tangshan City, defended his title as the region’s “champion of the competition” with an impressive yield of 980 jin per mu. Upon hearing such outstanding results, many of the fertilizers and other major players who had entered the contest promptly withdrew, conceding defeat, leaving Luo to take center stage in a one-man show.

Brother Luo is a large-scale farmer in Guye District, leasing over 500 mu of land. He owns a substantial fleet of agricultural machines and manages his fields without hiring external labor, resulting in relatively extensive, hands-off farming practices. Adding to the challenges, this year’s weather has been unfavorable, with prolonged rainfall. After sowing his peanut seeds, Brother Luo neglected the field—neither irrigating nor applying pesticides—and by harvest time, the weeds had grown nearly as tall as the peanuts themselves.

However, the plots treated with Nongda 54% (18-18-18) fertilizer and Nongda organic fertilizer—each applied at one bag per mu—produced exceptionally high yields. Brother Luo proudly reported that the peanuts on these fields yielded 980 jin per mu, with each plant bearing roughly 125 pods. By contrast, fields fertilized with other products averaged just over 400 jin per mu—a stark difference. “Nongda fertilizer really is top-notch; I’ll use it again next year,” he said. Seeing the vigorous growth of the peanut plants, Brother Luo invited nearby villagers to come and observe. After witnessing both the robust foliage and the impressive yield, the villagers unanimously agreed they would definitely switch to Nongda fertilizer next season.
