The Transformation Journey of a Veteran Grape Grower in Shaanxi Province

Release Date:

2018-06-11

Shaanxi is a major province for fruit and tree cultivation. Li Guangshan, from Hongmiao Village in Chang’an District, Xi’an, has planted a 10-mu grape orchard and now boasts more than a decade of growing experience. In his early years, thanks to his technical expertise and managerial skills, he joined the Xi’an Grape Association in Shaanxi.

As his fertilizer use increased, Li Guangshan, who was well-versed in agricultural techniques, noticed that his grapevines were no longer thriving as they once had, leaving him deeply anxious. With his management and technical expertise firmly in place, he began to wonder: could the problem lie with the fertilizer or the soil? Frustrated, Li Guangshan paced back and forth, scratching his head in concern.

There is always a way out when all seems lost. It was then that Li Guangshan learned from an agricultural‑input dealer about a fertilizer that not only supplies essential nutrients to crops but also improves soil quality, boosts fertilizer efficiency, and enhances crop yield and quality—Nongda Active Humic Acid Fertilizer. Hesitant at first, he decided to give it a try and began using Nongda’s Active Humic Acid Nutrient Package. And once he started, he stuck with it for five years.

Now, whenever you visit Li Guangshan’s orchard, he proudly shows off his vineyard to everyone. The grapes he grows not only yield abundantly but also boast vibrant color, excellent flavor, and superior quality—qualities that have won him a loyal base of repeat customers. Nearby grape growers often come by to seek his advice and learn from his experience.

After that, he shifted his business strategy, placing greater emphasis on grape quality rather than blindly chasing high yields. He told me that all his grapes have already been booked in advance; even the smallest bunch sells for at least fifty yuan, whereas others’ higher-yielding, larger‑sized grapes fail to fetch a good price.

Having used the product himself, he has an even deeper understanding of its effectiveness. In 2016, Li Guangshan made a bold decision: to become a distributor of Nongda Fertilizer, promoting high-quality fertilizers and advanced technologies so that “more farmers can achieve greater economic returns.”

In Shaanxi, where the fertilizer market is a chaotic mix of products, building a reputable fertilizer brand is no easy feat. At first, he faced constant setbacks—handing out flyers and making cold calls, only to be turned down time and again. At his wit’s end, he recalled his own experience with Nongda Fertilizer, and suddenly had an idea: he would set up his agro‑chemical store right in his own vineyard. Every so often, he would invite grape growers to the orchard for on‑site demonstrations, using the tangible results from his own grapes to promote high‑quality fertilizers.

You’d be surprised—by showcasing fertilizer effectiveness in a clear, visual way, he’s won himself a loyal customer base. Today, Li Guangshan has become something of a local celebrity in Chang’an District; whenever farmers hear his name, they immediately think of his Nongda fertilizers. “That’s living advertising!” Li Guangshan says with a smile.

The transition from farmer to distributor requires deep trust in a brand, as well as courage and determination. Li Guangshan told me that he now leads a fulfilling life; he is eager to serve as a volunteer and advocate for promoting high‑quality fertilizers, hoping only that Xi’an’s grape industry will continue to thrive and that its grape brands will grow stronger and more prominent.
