Complete Nutritional Package for Potatoes

Release Date:

2018-01-12

Potatoes are a high-yielding tuber crop with relatively high nutrient requirements, preferring cool, temperate climates and well‑drained, sandy soils. With a short growing period, fertilization should incorporate ample farmyard manure as a base fertilizer, supplemented by compound fertilizers and micronutrient formulations. This approach improves soil physical properties, promotes vegetative growth and tuber formation, boosts yield, and enhances quality. Option 1: Fertilizer types and application rates: Nongda Yidingsan bio‑organic fertilizer, 80–160 kg per mu; Nongda Super Formula potato‑specific humic acid controlled‑release fertilizer, 15‑9‑21, 150 kg per mu; High‑calcium potassium‑magnesium soil conditioner, 20 kg per mu—apply according to soil conditions.

Potatoes are a high-yielding tuber crop with relatively high nutrient requirements, preferring cool, temperate climates and well‑drained, sandy soils. With a short growing season, fertilization should incorporate ample farmyard manure alongside compound fertilizers and micronutrient supplements as a base application. This approach helps enhance the soil’s physical properties, promoting vigorous growth and tuber formation, thereby increasing yield and improving quality.

Option One:

Fertilizer types and application rates: Nongda Yidingsan bio-organic fertilizer, 80–160 kg per mu; Nongda Super Formula potato-specific humic acid controlled-release fertilizer, 15‑9‑21, 150 kg per mu; High‑calcium potassium‑magnesium soil conditioner, 20 kg per mu—select according to soil conditions.

Application method: Broadcast prior to land preparation.

Performance: Controlled nutrient release ensures balanced nutrition without the need for additional fertilization; it loosens the soil, creating an optimal growing environment for root development and promoting robust root growth.

Option Two:

Base fertilizer

Fertilizer types and application rates: Nongda Yidingsan bio-organic fertilizer: 150–200 kg per mu; Nongda Active Humic Acid 17-17-17S: 100–150 kg per mu; High-Calcium-Potassium-Magnesium fertilizer: 20 kg per mu. Soil conditioners should be selected appropriately based on soil conditions.

Application method: Apply before land preparation.

Performance effect: Balances nutrients, loosens the soil, and creates an optimal growing environment for root development, resulting in a well‑developed root system.

Chase Fertilizer

Fertilizer types and application rates: When potatoes begin to swell, apply Nongda Humic Acid Nitrate Fertilizer 15‑5‑20 or 15‑5‑23, or Nongda Shuirun Soil Humic Acid Water‑Soluble Fertilizer 18‑0‑22, 16‑6‑36, or Bio‑Bacterial Water‑Soluble Fertilizer 20‑20‑20 or 13‑7‑40. Typically, apply 10 kg per mu per application via fertigation. Adhere to the principle of applying small doses frequently, adjusting the amount of fertigation fertilizer as needed in conjunction with the base fertilizer application rate.

During the seedling stage, a root‑boosting fertilizer can be applied via irrigation: The Agricultural University’s ecological fertilizer series of compound microbial agents should be applied at a rate of 5–10 liters per mu.

Application method: Apply fertilizer with irrigation; several types of fertilizer can be used in rotation.

Performance effect: The plants exhibit vigorous growth, with balanced vegetative and reproductive development. Potatoes grow rapidly, set fruit well, yield highly, and boast excellent quality.

Leaf surface fertilizer

Fertilizer types and application rates: During the fruit‑expansion stage, alternately apply foliar fertilizers such as Nongdazhuang Keli, Hezefeng, and Huangjinlu.

         Application method: Foliar spray.

Performance effect: Increase yield and improve potato quality.

Note: For fields severely infested with nematodes, apply Nematode‑Control “Minggenbao.” During land preparation, incorporate it together with bio‑organic fertilizer, well‑decomposed organic matter, and conventional fertilizers; be sure to till promptly. A recommended application rate is 1–2 bags per mu. After sowing, apply once via irrigation 45–60 days later.
