An allocation of 7.766 billion yuan has been made to support the protection of arable land fertility.
On May 19, 2016, the Shandong Provincial Department of Finance announced that this year the province will continue to implement its agricultural support and protection subsidy policy. Adhering to the principle of “maintaining the same level of benefits for farmers,” subsidies will be provided at a rate of no less than 125 yuan per mu, based on wheat‑cultivation acreage, thereby sustaining the highest subsidy levels since the policy’s inception. Recently, the provincial finance allocated 7.766 billion yuan in agricultural support and protection subsidies to bolster soil fertility conservation, mandating that by June 30 all funds be disbursed directly to grain‑producing farmers through the Qilu Huimin “One‑Stop” platform. Meanwhile, to enhance the effectiveness of the subsidy policy and improve the efficiency of fund utilization, the province will further expand the scope of measures supporting soil‑fertility protection. On the condition that the designated use of these subsidies complies with policy requirements and that payments are made in full, any remaining funds will be kept in reserve to encourage localities to adopt innovative approaches and launch pilot projects aimed at safeguarding soil fertility.
