Nongda Fertilizer Industry, driven by a commitment to the people, is helping the humic acid sector achieve healthy and rapid growth.

(This website reports, by Ji Hua) On April 22, a symposium marking the 48th World Earth Day and the preparation of the “White Paper on China’s Humic Acid Fertilizer Industry,” hosted by the China Humic Acid Industry Association and organized by Shandong Nongda Fertilizer Technology Co., Ltd., was held in Beijing. “Restore the Soil to Its Natural State” emerged as a shared consensus among the attending leaders, experts, corporate representatives, and members of the media.

Among the guest speakers at this seminar were Xin Jingshu, Director of the Soil and Fertilizer Technology Division at the National Agricultural Technology Extension Center; Zhao Bingqiang, a researcher at the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Zeng Xiancheng, Chairman of the China Humic Acid Industry Association; and Ding Fangjun, Deputy General Manager of Shandong Agricultural University Fertilizer Technology Co., Ltd., among others.

April 22 this year marked the 48th World Earth Day, as well as the 28th anniversary of its introduction to China. Zeng Xiancheng, Chairman of the China Humic Acid Industry Association, pointed out that China’s resource and environmental carrying capacity has now reached its limit, making it imperative to address the soil crisis without delay. “Restore the soil to its natural state” has become a shared call in both agricultural production and nationwide environmental governance. Humic acid, he emphasized, is the lifeblood of soil, the very essence of its fertility, and the nourishing “milk” of Mother Earth. Vigorously developing humic‑acid‑based fertilizers is an objective necessity for advancing supply‑side structural reform in fertilizer production, promoting low‑carbon agriculture, and tackling smog. For six decades, China’s humic‑acid community has worked tirelessly, placing soil above all else—treating it as a source of security, grounding their practices in its health, and shouldering the responsibility of safeguarding it—vowing to see China’s “soil‑preserving revolution” through to the end. The mission is one of great honor.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the development of China’s humic acid industry, and this symposium is one of the events kicking off the commemorative celebrations. Nongda is a leading brand in China’s humic acid fertilizer sector. Nongda Fertilizer has initiated activities to commemorate the 48th World Earth Day and to compile the “White Paper on China’s Humic Acid Fertilizer Industry,” while also taking an active role in organizing this symposium.

This year, China’s annual theme for Earth Day is “Conserve and Intensively Utilize Resources, Promote Green and Simple Living—Tell the Story of Our Planet.” At a symposium held during the Six-Party Talks, Ding Fangjun, Deputy General Manager of Nongda Fertilizer Industry, stated that China’s fertilizer sector should also adopt its own Earth Day theme—one that emphasizes the supply side—in response to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s call for supply-side structural reform and in recognition of the industry’s historic mission to advance such reforms. That theme is: “Empower Resource Use with Intelligence, Advocate Green and Efficient Production—Tell the Story of Our Soils.” “Intelligence” refers to the intelligent, intensive production of fertilizers; “empowerment” means that fertilizers should empower the soil, nourish crops, and even enhance nutrient‑rich ecosystems—“humic acid fertilizers” are clearly among the most valuable options today; “efficiency” calls for improving quality while boosting productivity; and “telling the story of our soils” means restoring the soil to its natural state: introducing nutrients into the soil to transform it into fertile loam, using that loam to strengthen roots, and nurturing robust seedlings—achieving a true synergy and harmony between soil and fertilizer.

According to reports, as China’s leading brand in humic acid fertilizers, Nongda was the first in the industry to publish the “Corporate Social Responsibility Green Book” on February 16, 2017. In doing so, it sought to implement the spirit of the No. 1 Central Document of 2017 and uphold General Secretary Xi Jinping’s new vision of a “community with a shared future for mankind,” actively fulfilling its corporate social responsibility to promote harmony between soil and fertilizer. Nongda is committed to pioneering China’s supply-side structural reform in the fertilizer sector and leading the way toward “Fertilizer Industry 4.0.”

The experts and leaders in attendance expressed full recognition of Nongda Fertilizer Industry’s proactive efforts to advance industry development and its exemplary fulfillment of corporate social responsibility as a leading brand. According to reports, since its establishment 22 years ago, Nongda Fertilizer has adopted a development strategy centered on “rooted in Nongda, nurturing the soil, balancing nutrition, and achieving harmony between soil and fertilizer.” The company has focused on developing innovative functional fertilizers, such as active humic acid fertilizers and soil-conditioning formulations. While effectively enhancing fertilizer use efficiency and boosting both yield and quality, it has also remained committed to fostering “soil–fertilizer harmony,” improving soil health, and comprehensively fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities—balancing economic, social, and ecological benefits. Over the past 22 years, Nongda Fertilizer has promoted a cumulative total of 3 million tons of humic acid‑based fertilizers; based on an application rate of 40 kilograms per mu, this has collectively nourished 72 million mu of farmland and reduced fertilizer consumption by 108,000 tons. Taking a medium‑yield corn field of 600 kilograms per mu as an example, the company has helped increase grain production by 3.456 million tons; and by conserving urea, it has saved 162,000 tons of coal resources. Moreover, according to carbon‑sequestration calculations, the company has contributed to reducing environmental carbon emissions by 9.504 million tons. These achievements have earned high praise from the China Humic Acid Industry Association, and Nongda Fertilizer has been awarded the “Wujin Cup”—the highest honor in the national humic acid industry—for three consecutive terms.

Ding Fangjun, Deputy General Manager of Nongda Fertilizer Industry, stated, “Xiang soil is fertile, and good soil is rich in humus.” Nongda Fertilizer will vigorously advance the development of humic‑acid fertilizers, helping to turn land into lush, fertile fields and restoring the natural vitality of our soils. The company will also embrace the spirit of selfless dedication embodied in the line, “Though fallen petals are not heartless things, they turn into spring mud to better nourish the blossoms,” fully shouldering its responsibilities as a leading brand in China’s humic‑acid fertilizer sector. Under the guidance of the China Humic Acid Industry Association, Nongda Fertilizer will contribute to the growth of the humic‑acid fertilizer industry, help alleviate pressure on agricultural resources and the environment, promote green production practices, optimize product mixes, and make new historic contributions to boosting agricultural efficiency, increasing farmers’ incomes, and greening rural areas.

Finally, Chairman Zeng Xiancheng stated that organizing the seminar to compile the “White Paper on China’s Humic Acid Fertilizer Industry” represents China’s innovative contribution to World Earth Day, and that humic acid fertilizers serve as a crucial tool for translating the green development philosophy of World Earth Day into concrete action. Chairman Zeng proposed that the theme for the 49th World Earth Day commemorative event in 2018 be “Seminar on the Low-Carbonization Effects of Humic Acids,” and recommended that Shandong Agricultural University Fertilizer Technology Co., Ltd. continue to serve as the host.
