Agricultural University humic acid is an effective tool for improving and restoring soil, helping to “store grain in the land.”

(Reported by Ge Yuming and Xin Guang) On June 9, 2016, a field yield‑assessment and demonstration‑seminar for wheat was held in Wudi County, Binzhou, under the Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Tackling Program project titled “Research and Application of Key Technologies for a New Type of Soil Conditioner,” undertaken by Shandong Nongda Fertilizer Technology Co., Ltd. Attending the event were Yang Fan, Deputy Director of the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center of the Ministry of Agriculture; Li Tao, Deputy Director of the Shandong Provincial Soil and Fertilizer Station; Researcher Wang Shenqiang of the Nanjing Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Zhao Changxing of Qingdao Agricultural University; and Sun Fulai, Director of the Binzhou Seed Management Station, among other experts. They participated in the on‑site yield verification, observation, and discussion. A reporter from the Agricultural Science Channel of Shandong Television conducted follow‑up coverage, while local distributors, large-scale farmers, and ordinary farmers witnessed firsthand the rolling waves of wheat swaying across saline‑alkali land. Both the attending experts and the growers were profoundly impressed by the remarkable efficacy of Nongda Fertilizer’s soil conditioner in ameliorating saline‑alkali soils: with this product, once‑barren saline‑alkali land is transformed into fertile farmland, capable of yielding high‑quality crops.

The yield‑assessment expert panel heard reports from Ding Fangjun, Deputy General Manager of Nongda Fertilizer Co., Ltd., and Chen Shigeng, Director of the Technical Center, on the progress of the trial and demonstration. In collaboration with Shandong Agricultural University, the company conducted a wheat‑cultivation trial and demonstration on 30 mu of saline‑alkali land within the “Bohai Granary” core demonstration zone in Liubao Town, Wudi County, Binzhou City. Using a five‑point sampling method, the expert panel carried out field inspections and performed yield‑assessment acceptance. The results showed that the average yield of conventionally planted wheat was 179.08 kg per mu, whereas wheat grown on saline‑alkali land treated with Nongda’s soil conditioner averaged 477.39 kg per mu, representing an average yield increase of 166.58%. Furthermore, one experimental plot under a comprehensive saline‑alkali amelioration treatment achieved a peak yield of 540.93 kg per mu, with an average yield increase of 202.06%.

Expert panel assessment: For saline–alkali soils like this, achieving such high wheat yields in the first year is truly remarkable and demonstrates highly significant results. After years of trials and demonstrations, it has been confirmed that the soil-conditioning products developed by Nongda Feiyе not only improve saline–alkali soils rapidly and effectively but also address the issue of secondary salinization, making the dream of high grain yields on these lands a reality.

According to statistics, China’s saline–alkali soils cover approximately 550 million mu. If soil-conditioning products of this type are applied to rehabilitate these lands, it would be of great significance for safeguarding national food security and increasing farmers’ incomes.
