Focusing on crops and pursuing in-depth, comprehensive solutions is the strategic direction of China Agricultural University’s humic acid business.
On January 11, 2016, the award ceremony for the Fifth National Sweet Potato System “Nongda Feiyi Cup” High-Yield Competition and the Second Central Plains Sweet Potato Industry Exchange Conference were solemnly held in Xinzheng, Zhengzhou. The event brought together over 800 participants, including national sweet potato system post experts, scholars from research institutions and universities, heads of provincial and municipal experimental stations, as well as representatives from enterprises and large-scale growers.
As China’s fourth-largest food crop, sweet potato cultivation now covers over 70 million mu. The scientific application of fertilization techniques is one of the key measures for boosting sweet potato yields. For many years, our company has conducted trials and demonstrations of a specialized humic‑acid fertilizer for sweet potatoes, developing a scientifically formulated recipe. Extensive, long-term demonstration and promotion efforts have shown that, in addition to providing the essential nutrients—nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium—this fertilizer contains humic acid, which helps loosen the soil, enhance its water‑ and nutrient‑retention capacity, regulate soil pH, mitigate compaction, and promote robust root development. These benefits lead to markedly improved crop quality, higher yields, and an average yield increase of 25.12%; in some growing regions, yields have even exceeded 10,000 jin per mu.
As a leading brand in China’s humic acid fertilizer sector, the company has consistently upheld the mission of “enabling more farmers to access higher‑quality fertilizers.” Through initiatives such as the “Nongda Fertilizer Cup” sweet potato high‑yield competition and the Grain King Contest, it actively promotes humic acid fertilizers, contributing to the national goal of achieving zero growth in chemical fertilizer use. According to Ma Xuewen, Chairman of the company, hosting the “Nongda Fertilizer Cup” Grain King Contest provides a platform for farmers to compete in advanced yield‑enhancing cultivation techniques, encouraging them to apply fertilizers effectively, manage their fields well, and cultivate high‑yielding crops. This effort holds significant practical value in guiding the adoption of scientific fertilization and efficient farming practices, while also fostering a new generation of professional farmers.
This year’s “Nongda Fertilizer Cup” sweet potato high-yield competition awarded substantial prizes ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 yuan to professional sweet potato growers, effectively boosting their motivation and advancing the development of the sweet potato industry.
