The demonstration plot achieved an astonishing yield of 12,096 jin per mu, representing an increase of 2,814 jin and a yield growth rate of 30.32%.

On the afternoon of May 21, the second stop of the “Remarkable Humic Acid 2024” on-site yield‑assessment tour made its way to Jishi Town in Tengzhou City, where a quiet showdown over potato yields was quietly unfolding.
To ensure the fairness and impartiality of the event, Nongda Group employed a rigorous measurement protocol: discarding potatoes with significant field‑edge variability and taking samples by measuring precisely ten meters inward. A scientifically designed comparative experiment was conducted between the demonstration plot and the control plot, which shared identical management practices and were both planted with the V7 variety, but differed in fertilizer application. Following an intensive yield‑assessment phase, the results were truly encouraging: the control plot yielded 9,282 jin per mu, while the demonstration plot achieved an astonishing 12,096 jin per mu—an increase of 2,814 jin, or a remarkable 30.32% over the control.
This result thrilled the buyers on site, who eagerly raised their phones to capture this historic moment. The landowner, Sister Kong, cultivates nearly 200 mu and has been using Nongda fertilizers for more than a decade. Before the yield assessment, she had estimated that the demonstration plot would produce around 8,500 jin of potatoes, with the potential to reach 9,000 jin in a few days. Upon learning that the actual yield exceeded her expectations, Sister Kong was overjoyed.
To ensure the yield‑estimation process is rigorous and impartial, and that the results are reliable and credible, the event specially invited Mr. Yao Dechang, President of the Shandong Potato Association, to witness the procedure on site. At his command, the harvester began traversing the rows, swiftly bringing forth one large, golden potato after another from the soil. Chairman Yao conducted an in-depth analysis of the advantages of Tengzhou potatoes, lavishing high praise on their appearance, tuber shape, and size. He specifically noted that the demonstration field’s potatoes are large and of excellent quality, a result closely tied to differences in fertilizer use and management practices. In particular, the Agricultural University’s potato‑specific compound fertilizer has proven especially effective in regulating soil pH. “With a yield increase of 30.32%, this is truly remarkable!” he exclaimed.
During the yield‑estimation phase, Zhu Fujun, a member of the Nongda Group Research Institute, and Senior Agronomist Liu Lu from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs’ Key Laboratory for Humic Acids provided comprehensive guidance on potato cultivation and management. Teacher Liu offered a detailed explanation of fertilization strategies for improving potato quality and boosting yields, emphasizing the importance of “one adjustment and three reductions”: amending the soil, lowering soil salinity, regulating soil pH, and replenishing organic matter, meso‑ and micronutrients, and beneficial microorganisms. Together, these measures contribute to high potato yields.
As the “Home of Potatoes” in China, Tengzhou cultivates spring potatoes across more than 490,000 mu, making it a leading producer of high‑quality, second‑crop potatoes in the central Chinese region. According to Xia Haimeng, Assistant General Manager of Nongda Fertilizer and Director of the Shanhe Regional Division, the additional yield of 2,814 jin will boost farmers’ income by 3,000 yuan per mu. After deducting input costs, each mu can still generate an extra profit of approximately 2,000 yuan.
General Manager Xia emphasized that the yield‑measurement events are entirely fair, impartial, and genuinely effective. Moving forward, the Group will continue to intensify its efforts in product research and development and continuous improvement, ensuring that more farmers can access higher‑quality fertilizers and achieve greater returns. At the same time, the Group will further expand the number of yield‑measurement events and ramp up promotional efforts, enabling more farmers to witness the benefits and performance of our products and adopt China Agricultural University’s fertilizers, thereby reaping even greater economic gains.
