“The Remarkable Humic Acid 2024: A Real-World Harvest Tour Across China” concluded successfully at the Feng County stop! Garlic yields increased by 886 jin compared to the control plot!

Release Date:

2024-05-24

The demonstration plot yielded 3,295 jin per mu (with 20% moisture content removed), while the control plot produced 2,409 jin per mu (also with 20% moisture content removed), representing an increase of 886 jin per mu!

On May 23, the “Amazing Humic Acid 2024: Real-World Yield Trials in China” event concluded successfully in Feng County, Xuzhou City. Through on-site yield assessments, the initiative confirmed the positive impact of humic acid fertilizers on both the yield and quality of garlic, with results that were truly remarkable…
Feng County, a major garlic‑producing region, is renowned for its high‑quality garlic, which is widely favored by out‑of‑area traders. According to Director Li of the Shouxian Town Agricultural Technology Service Center, prolonged monoculture and excessive use of chemical fertilizers have increasingly exacerbated soil compaction, leading to a decline in planted acreage and a corresponding drop in yields. This year, moreover, low temperatures and freezing rain have further reduced garlic production by approximately 25% compared with previous years.
In light of this situation, will the Nongda fertilizer deliver any surprises? At the command of Director Li of the Shouxian Town Agricultural Technology Service Center, the yield‑estimation activity commenced in an orderly manner. In both the demonstration plot and the control plot, the same variety—Virus-Free Zhuangyuanqing—was planted. Twenty square meters were sampled from each plot, and a detailed yield‑estimation procedure was carried out, including excavation, soil shaking, garlic trimming, bagging, weighing, and calculation of yield per mu. The entire process was conducted in an open and transparent manner, ensuring the impartiality of the yield‑estimation results.
According to yield measurements, the demonstration plot yielded 3,295 jin per mu (with 20% moisture content), while the control plot yielded 2,409 jin per mu (also with 20% moisture content), representing an increase of 886 jin per mu.
Senior agronomist Chen Yonghao from the Key Laboratory of Humic Acids at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Nongda Group, participated throughout the live broadcast, providing detailed explanations of the yield‑estimation procedure and offering an in-depth analysis of the positive effects of humic acid fertilizers on garlic growth. He noted that, in the demonstration plot, the number of garlic bulbs was significantly higher than in the control field, with larger, plumper heads. In addition to sound management practices, this success was also attributable to the ability of humic acid fertilizers to loosen the soil, mitigate salinization, and reduce the incidence of diseases, thereby creating a more favorable growing environment for garlic. The observed increase in yield was entirely within expectations.
Research has revealed that low utilization rates of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers in garlic cultivation are a widespread issue. Liu Xiaochen, an intermediate engineer at the Key Laboratory of Humic Acid Fertilizers under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Nongda Group and Political Commissar for the East China Region, noted that Nongda Group has addressed this challenge by adjusting the nutrient ratio and upgrading to a four-stage precision controlled-release formulation, ensuring a timely supply of nutrients to garlic. This measure has yielded remarkable results in demonstration fields, with larger, more numerous bulbs and significant improvements in both yield and quality.
The owner of the demonstration field, Brother Han, expressed satisfaction with the yield‑estimation results. He said, “Last year I used products from China Agricultural University, and my dry garlic yield reached over 3,700 jin. This year, due to weather conditions, the yield has dipped somewhat, but my garlic still ranks among the largest in this area, and its quality remains excellent—so naturally, the price is higher. With this quality, I have no worries about selling it! Using fertilizer from China Agricultural University is certainly nothing to be ashamed of!”
“Despite this year’s challenging weather conditions, these yield‑estimation results are both surprising and entirely expected. Achieving such planting outcomes is no overnight feat—it reflects the hard work of garlic farmers as well as the valuable contributions of Nongda Fertilizer,” said Meng Xiangyu, Director of the East China Region at Nongda Group, who oversaw the entire yield‑assessment process.
General Manager Meng emphasized that Nongda Fertilizer will continue to excel in product R&D, service enhancement, and marketing efforts. He expressed hope that, through a series of demonstration fields, more farmers will witness the benefits of humic acid fertilizers, boosting both yield and quality in their crops and ultimately increasing their incomes.
